Loraine
Ballard-Morrill, News Director and
Public Affairs Director at Philadelphia's
Power 99 (WUSL) since 1982, "can't
think of a better place to be." She
has overseen numerous award-winning
community service campaigns that can
truly be said to have made a difference
in Philadelphia. |
Because of her efforts,
Loraine and WUSL have been honored with the
Mayor's Award for Excellence, a White House Award
for Private Sector Initiatives, The National
Council On Drug Abuse Entertainment Industry
Council Award for Excellence, the Philadelphia
Human Rights Commission Human Rights Award, the
Tri-State Black Media Coalition's Outstanding
Women In Media Award, the Women's Alliance For
Job Equity's Certificate Of Courage, and the
National Political Congress of Black Women's
Media Award.
WUSL's Community Service Campaign, coordinated by
Loraine, won the highly prestigious Crystal Award
from the National Association of Broadcasters
(NAB) in 1993, 1996 and 1998, the only station
ever to win this honor three times. In addition,
WUSL in 2000 was designated a Daily Point Of
Light by the Points Of Light Foundation.
Loraine Ballard-Morrill is a Board member of
Champions Of Caring, Philadelphia Committee for
Children & Youth, Allies Against Asthma, and
the Advisory Council of Children's Hospital of
Philadelphia's Adolescent Health Connections
media project. Ms. Morrill has also served on the
Board of the American Lung Association,
Philadelphia Urban League, and Centers For
Literacy.
