While attending Hofstra
University. John launched a syndicated radio
comedy show called Fulton's Folly, which in 1971
brought him to the attention of the producers of
The National Lampoon Radio Hour. He joined that
groundbreaking program and wrote and produced
segments for John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Dan
Akroyd, Bill Murray and many others.
John's professional radio debut was on WLIR-FM in
1976. In 1982 he moved to Philadelphia's WMMR
where he and "The Morning Zoo" became a
force on the national radio scene. In two years
the show not only reached number one, but had
achieved the highest ratings in local radio
history. In October of 1994 John joined WYSP and
found success again: within a year WYSP's
afternoon ratings were number one in demo.
In June of 2002 John returned to mornings, at
Classic Rock station 102.9 WMGK. It proved to be
a perfect fit, and has maintained a top 5 rating
ever since.
In addition to his radio career, John has
appeared as a stand-up comedian, hosted and
co-produced Philly Flashback '84, and has
anchored Philadelphia Mummers Parade. John became
a contributor to the NBC "10" Show in
April of 2003.
Along with winning numerous local service awards
and readers polls over his 30-plus year career,
John won a local "EMMY" Award from the
National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
for Philly Flashback '84. He won the Gavin Media
"Professional Air Talent of the Year
Award" for both 1986 and 1987. In 1988 John
was named Billboard Magazine's "Air
Personality of the Year," and that same year
won the Public Relations Society of America's
"Drumbeater Award."
John is married and has a son, three dogs, two
cats, and all three types of fish, (fresh water,
salt water, and frozen.)
